How does changing weather effect your skin?

Last month, I wrote an article for Masala Magazine about how the skin is affected when the weather changes. So, here we go:

The temperatures are finally starting to drop, and the outdoors will be friendly again. And while this change in the season probably requires a change in wardrobe, it also requires a change in our skincare regimes.

When the weather was hot and humid, a lot of skincare specialists suggest looking after your skin, especially in terms of sun care and avoid the higher humidity to result in breakouts. But, as the weather starts to cool down, it becomes less humid and the indoors become especially dry and stuffy, depriving skin of natural moisture. In general, this new dryness can lead to flakiness, red patches and excess dead skin cells that clog pores and causing acne.

What is needed is to combat the skin from becoming dry and losing its natural lustre. The winter is actually a blessing for those with oily skins- as the lesser humidity and drier weather help with the breakouts and reduces flare-ups. The skin’s natural oils work hard to compensate for the loss of moisture. And while the dry breeze will remove excess oils, the skin will still need hydration, exfoliation and moisturizing. While the markets are suddenly stocked with petroleum jelly and oil-based moisturisers, they won’t be right for oily skins. Lush’s Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask, packed with fresh blueberries, is perfect for cleansing the skin and soothing redness and irritation, without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Dry oils like the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil are perfect for this weather and oily skins.

For many, the winter days bring a rosy hue to the cheeks, dry skin-types, especially, struggle with skin troubles in the cooling weather. With lesser moisture than usual, the skin will be in need of a more heavy-duty moisturizer, a softer exfoliator and a lot of hydration. Hot showers and bath will sound especially alluring, but they will strip the already dry skin of natural oils and make the skin flaky and rough. It is ideal to take shorter baths or showers with lukewarm water. The skin will require more water than usual, without adequate water levels, it will appear dull, with exaggerated pores. Using a lighter Facial cleanser will ensure that your skin is clean without excessive scrubbing. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser does just that and completely removes makeup. Using a moisturizing scrub like Reine Michi Beauty’s Moisturizing Sugar Scrub will help clear the dead skin and keep your skin hydrated. La Prairie’s White Caviar Illuminating Serum helps in reducing the appearance of lines and spots, and gives the skin a subtle light, followed by La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Luxe cream for strengthening and lifting the skin. Adding a facial mist, like Caudalie Grape Water to hydrate skin will make your skin glow and happy.

Change in weather often gets confusing for combination skin, i.e when you have an oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) and your cheeks are dry. Combination skin starts to flake because of dehydration and excess buildup. These dry flakes require mild cleansers such as the Neutrogena Hydroboost Waster Gel Cleanser that gently cleanses and locks in moisture. Mild exfoliators like Starskin Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff will remove the dead cells and give the skin a natural luster. Lush’s Tea Tree Toner Tab will balance the skin’s oils and soothe redness and irritation.

And while you are updating the seasonal skincare, you might want to stock up on the sunscreen, lip scrub and lip balms. While it might not be as sunny anymore, but the sun is still prevalent, and the skin will still need SPF for protection; irrespective of skin type, the drier weather will have you end up with chapped lips. Lip scrubs, like Glamglow’s POUTMUD Fizzey Lip Exfoliating treatment, exfoliates the lips and leaving them softer, and free of dead skin, and Sephora Rouge Balm will keep your lips moisturized and lightly layered with SPF 20.

Why I’m Thankful For Smita Mathur

Every day, at the end of the day, I like to write about what I’m thankful for. Today, I didn’t need to wait for the end of the day to write what I’m super thankful for- the existence of a specimen called Smita Mathur.
I’ve known her since we were about 10-11 years old and she walked into 6th grade- all skinny and silly and completely, even then, infatuated with all things Harry Potter.
She hummed to Raghav Mathur’s Angel Eyes (cuz my baby’s got oooo-oooooh Angel eyeeeezzzz) and talked about Harry Potter like he was her boyfriend. She wasn’t then as obsessed with Snape and Draco as she became.
We both went through all our mad phases of life together- even if were in different countries. I remember the time when we both wanted to be Fashion Designers and start our own label- Insane Orange. It is now actually the name of our (rather inactive) blog.
Can you believe it’s 2017 already? And that’s half-way past the year. I feel like it was yesterday you were trying to motivate me to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 6th grade!
She’s been my inspiration, my muse, my sister, and my absolute cuckoo. I have been a slightly stupid person who didn’t always know what is right and what is wrong, and accepting different people wasn’t always instinct. But, she’s taught me- in more ways than one, that everyone, although different, is always the same in some way.
She’s always got my back- always- I could have murdered somebody- and this silly woman will always defend my case (while slamming her head and mine in private!). I’m thankful for everything you’ve done for me, and your endless love and support- but today, I’m thankful to you for teaching me how to become my own person- and to have the balls to cut your hair as short as you want.
I’ve said time and again, that no one just has 1 best friend- I mean, if you do that, that is just super bizarre and, definitely, borderline weird. Like Mindy Kaling says, best friends are a tier– and we make new best friends at different times (and tiers) of our lives. We keep the old ones, while also adding a few more to what some are very likely to call- a cult.
Smita has been the most important tier since day 1, and I know years from now when we’ll be super hip grandmas, we’ll still be best friends. Staying with this one- now, that’s a no brainer.
So today, on your 25th birthday, on August 18, 2017 (not, October 19- YOU KNOW WHY, SMI), I want to wish my favourite person- a very happy birthday! You deserve all the happiness, love, kindness and Potter-mania in the whole entire world.
Now, that we’re from the sappy stuff, here’s a bunch of your old pictures to embarrass you because that really is the root of our friendship!

It’s so important to reminisce and smile, especially when you are sitting on your desk and wishing for holidays and planning where you’ll go. I’ve been thinking of Paris a lot- as if the Paris post wasn’t obvious enough for you- and I’ve been planning of every little detail for whenever I go.

To help me along and keep me thinking and dreaming of Paris, these below (paid) printables seem perfect!

12 Things to See in Paris

Ever since I was little, Paris as always help an enchanting charm- like the one place where ‘love’ origins from for some reason. In all of the world, Paris will always be a good idea, and somehow connected with the notion of ‘love’.

I’m yet to visit Paris, but in my mind- and through my research- I’ve already been there- several times. There are so many beautiful places to see within Paris- and more so, in the whole of France. But, when I will visit, these are the 15, that I wouldn’t want to miss- and in no particular order.

  1. Eiffel Tower
I had to start with the most significant one, right. The Eiffel Tower, a monument that practically draws the Parisian skyline in every illustration created, where on the top floor Tom Cruise proposed Katie Holmes, in front of which so many couples proposed and kissed, and shared moments of awe and love. Visit it once during the morning, and once during the night. As beautiful as it looks during the day, it’s a true sight to behold in the night- with all the light.
Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 to mark 100 years of the French revolution by Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel. Him, with his associate Maurice Koechlin went on to also design the Statue of Liberty. At its time, it was the tallest building in the world, and stayed so for about 41 years.
You can read more about the Eiffel on one of my favorite websites to read, History.com.
  2. Musee du Louvre
You can’t visit Paris without visiting the Louvre Museum. It is the world’s largest museum and one of Paris’ most significant monuments. The museum is a part of the Louvre Palace which was built back in around 12th century. Louvre Museum is best known for being home to one of the most popular paintings in the history, Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. The museum opened before the French Revolution in 1793.
Admission charges are 15 euros per person, unless you are under 18 years of age. If you can, I would recommend spending the whole day there, if not, keep at least 4-5 hours for the museum, mostly because you’d want to spend all that time there- walking around with your mouth open, in awe.
  3. Notre Dame Cathedral
kaci-baum-266646.jpgDisney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is probably the first thing that comes to your mind right? Well, at least that’s the case for me. But, the Notre Dame is more thanthat. Considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, its one of the most popular Cathedrals in the world. It was built in 1345, yep- the 12th century.  However, during the French Revolution, most of it’s religious imagery and artwork was damaged and destroyed. There have been several restorations processes since then. There is history and character in the Cathedral that can fascinate one endlessly. I’m a sucker for history- so a place like this would definitely grab my attention for longer than others.
Due to its popularity and significance, there are always long queues to enter the spectacular Cathedral. Be prepared to wait for a while. Also, because it’s Cathedral – there’s a dress code (long-ish clothes).
  4. Sainte Chapelle
jamieson-weaver-46032.jpgAnother fine example of French Gothic Architecture, the Sainte Chapelle was finished in the 11th century. Damaged during the French revolution, it was also restored in the 19th century. It is popular for the mesmerizing stained glass work windows. It is really close to the Notre Dame- so they can be visited one after the other.
Admission fees is just 10 euros, free if you’re an EU passport holder, and from every single review I’ve ever heard- it’s well worth it. The lines here are smaller than the Notre Dame- with wait time just about 15-20 minutes.
  5. The Latin Quarter- Luxembourg Gardens
    marie-sophie-tekian-36680.jpg
Le Jardin du Luxembourg is much newer compared to the cathedrals. It was built in the 17th century. Pack a picnic basket with baguettes, fresh macaroons, croissants, fresh strawberries and some bubbles and plot yourself in the beautiful garden. While I would recommend definitely visiting it- especially after a day full of busy itinerary- you can sit back and relax here.
  6. Palais Garnier
sebastien-gabriel-61757.jpgA super fancy name to a super fancy Parisian Opera theatre. It was finished in 1875, and got its name from its architect, Charles Garnier. Its popularity is hugely related to the fact that it was the backdrop for the plot of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. You must tour the insides of the magnificent Opera house.
The English tours are mostly sold-out, so make sure to book yours before-hand. If not, they also have headsets that can explain the place to you in English and from what I’ve read and heard, quite entertaining. The place gets very busy, so I arrive first thing in the morning. It open at 10am. The guided tours can last somewhere around 2 hours. You can buy the tickets online- but with the date and time slot booked in advance.
  7. River Seine- Cruise on the Seine
anthony-delanoix-152872The river flows through the heart of Paris, and is one of the must dos when in Paris. The river cruises are usually an hour long. Many reviews suggest that you get some of the best picture of the Eiffel from the river. It takes you under beautiful bridges, much like St Petersburg.
There are several cruises you can book from, based on your budget. Remember, research and first-hand reviews are the key!
  8. Arc de Triomphe
The monument was built to honor those who died during the French Revolution and the Napolean wars. Beneath it, is the tomb of the unknown soldier- a memorial to all the soldiers who died during the First World War.
Get the view and images from Champs Elysee, several reviews don’t recommend paying for the ticket and going on the top. There are several cafes along the Champs Elsyee where you can relax and gaze at the beautiful memorial building. To be honest, its quite like the India Gate in New Delhi- and it stands for the same thing as it does in India- the unknown soldiers who lost their lives to save ours. The monuments also look quite similar.
  9. Montmartre
This isn’t a monument, it’s actually an area with an old village charm to it, with a selection of luxury cafes. The area is quite known for it’s “romantic feel”. In all the scenarios I build in my head, I am sitting in a cafe with a book, drinking hot chocolate and eating macaroons, when my the one approaches me and we begin our epic love story.
Located in the area are Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur. There are several street artists- selling and performing, so its quite happening. However, be very careful of pickpockets and robbers in this particular area.
    moulin-rouge-paris-red-mill-montmartre-53608.jpeg
  10. Chateau de Versailles
    annette-beetge-36476.jpg
The Palace of Versailles was built in the 17th century. You can best associate it with Marie Antoinette- her private residence and pompous gardens are within Chateau de Versailles.
It is a must visit for every Parisian tour- because of its architecture, significance to the French history, royalty and revolution. The grandeur of the palace is beyond mesmerizing- and best described as enchanting. Because of this, you won’t be the only person to see the magnificent palace- plan ahead and reach early- so you don’t have to wait in the queues too long. It’s obviously advised to buy your tickets online.  While you can easily spend the whole day there, you might not have that much time to- so spend at least 2-3 hours in there. Preferably, arrange for a tour guide so you can make the most of the place and find out the little facts and tales of the place.
The entry to the gardens is absolutely free of charge.
  11. DisneyLand Paris
Confession: I’ve never been to Disney Land. It sucks, I know. A 24 year old, so in love with everything that’s a fantasy and romantic- and hasn’t been to Disneyland. Worry not, I’m trying to find a way to amend that very soon. (Paris, Hong Kong- I’m yet to decide). But, when I go to Paris, I will take an entire day out for Paris. Get there in the morning just when it’s about to open and stay until the park closes, for I can’t imagine another way.
Admission tickets are roughly about 45 euros per person, which isn’t bad for the most magical place.
    disneyland-486098_1920.jpg
  12. Le Marais
An historic part of Paris, it dates back to the 13th century. It was home to aristocracy before the French Revolution, since then it’s come back to its superior significance. Its full of super expensive hotels, boutiques, and cafes. Pierre Hermé’s store is also on the street- do NOT miss the delicious macaroons from there. Their cocoa macaroons are literally the best things ever.

Instagrammable Home-Office Spaces from Pinterest

Every time that I sit on my desk at home, I gloat over the fact that it looks so organized- at least for the first 15 minutes I’m sitting there. Then it becomes a giant mess of a lot of things. And in the chaos of cleaning and organizing, I end up on pinterest- ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME.

So I put together a bunch of desk inspirations that are my favorite desk ideas- at least for today! Which ones your favorite out of the bunch below?

What I’d Rather be Doing: Sitting in Gondolas in Venice

I was sitting on my desk with a long list of things to do for the day, and while the list and my face would say that I don’t have time to sit and gaze at pictures of Venice or plan my trip there, that is what I ended up doing.

So instead of eating my very Italian lunch (Pesto Pasta and tiramisu), I thought of sharing pictures that would make you also want to apparate yourself to a Gondola in Venice.

Green Aesthetic for a Sunny Thursday

It’s too hot here in Dubai, and I’m literally looking for shade. And the best shade- trees! The little green around kinda gives me a sense of peace and less-er heat. I hope this selection of a little green helps with a little shade to your sunny day!

Book Review: ‘Just Haven’t Met You Yet’ by Cate Woods

I ordered this book off Amazon to Delhi when I was there last. I had ordered like 15 books- and this was one of them. It’s Cate Woods debut novel and it came highly recommended from all the GoodReads reviews.

The book is very interesting, and the protagonist, Percy James SUPER hilarious. The book, based in Norwich and London, follows her and her confusing attempt at sorting out her life. On paper, she has the perfect boyfriend, a comfy job, normal set of friends- but in reality, she’s miserable. She’s kinda bored at her job, her boyfriend doesn’t exactly “excite” her- but her friends, yeah, they are the only good thing.

So while she’s living, what she believes is her perfectly mediocre, boring, routine of a life, EROS Tech approaches her. EROS tech is a company that have some bizarre algorithms that find you your soulmate- irrespective of the gender. Slightly amused, and mostly curious, Percy agrees to meet with her “soulmate” when the bossy, marketing lady from EROS approaches her.

In Percy’s head, she’s assuming without a doubt that the “soulmate” is a man. When she gets there- and this is where it starts getting funnier-it’s a woman. Freaked out, she makes an excuse and leaves. Although, she did have a fantastic time with the sexy, rich soulmate woman, Flora.

Anyway, she goes back to her regular life and after a conversation with bossy, marketing lady about women’s gender fluidity- Percy’s as confused as ever. So when invited to a party by Flora in London, she accepts. There she kisses the woman- only to realize, while she might enjoy Flora’s company, her sexuality is definitely straight, and also her perfect boyfriend is under the assumption she’s out with her work friend. Out of the party, she gets mugged- and there is one of the three musketeers, Milo to help her out. No kidding, he was dressed as a musketeer.

She has to call the perfect boyfriend and tell him she’s definitely not out with work friend and needs train money to make her way back to Norwich from London. She gets home super late and the next day- she breaks up with the guy. Not because of Flora or Milo- but because she finally realizes that they aren’t suited for each other.

And then the book follows her many drunken nights with her friends, her work, another date with Flora when she comes clean about being straight and more encounters with Milo.

451 pages later, it’s Milo she ends up with. Now, that’s the plot for you- in a really long way.

While the book sheds a lot of light on the character of the protagonist, the other characters don’t get enough details or a back-story. I wish Cate had elaborated a little more about Percy’s friend Charlie, and on Adam (the perfect boyfriend), Maggie (Percy’s hip grandma), Flora and even Milo. Although, I’m glad she didn’t elaborate on Mel (the crazy work buddy)- she was a 30 something woman DEDICATED, I repeat- DEDICATED- to Michael Buble’.

But, other than that- the circumstances in the book are quite realistic and hilarious. I really did not expect the soulmate to be a woman- just like the protagonist. And it was so convincing that the match might/might not be right. The funny parts were well written and thought through. The book really did surprise me and had me screaming very loudly- sometimes with laughter and sometimes with shock. It was very easy to connect to the protagonist- because despite all the crazy circumstances- what she’s thinking and going through, and concludes too seemed very real.

It’s the perfect book to read on a break, and will have you cracking within 2 chapters.

Blue Aesthetic Inspiration for Monday Blues

Lately, I’ve been rather obsessed with Pinterest, and I’m obviously curating- what in my opinion are- the prettiest albums. And since Mondays are often connected with blues- these blues will probably help you get rid of them!

Book Review: ‘Going La La’ by Alexandra Potter

If you don’t know already, I’m a sucker for contemporary chick-lit/romance novels. Alexandra Potter’s ‘Do You Come Here Often’ is actually one of my favourite books to read.

I’ve been trying to get my hands on Going La La for quite some time, seeing as it was her second novel and was released in 2001 first. There are several instances that won’t make sense anymore- like the fact she sat by her phone so he would call- not her cell phone, no the landline.

Our heroine, Frankie lives in London with her boyfriend, Hugh and two cats, Fred and Ginger. She works at a magazine as a writer and is very content with her life. A little bill in Hugh’s jacket suggests that he bought a ridiculously expensive ring at Tiffany’s just days ahead of her birthday.

So, even when she’s laid off from work, she still thinks she has something to look forward to. Until she gets to her birthday- her 29th, at the bowling centre with Hugh, and his friend Adam (who she can’t stand) and his 21-year-old super annoying girlfriend. Her birthday turns out to be a disaster – with Adam proposing to his girlfriend- and “dear” old Hugh actually telling Frankie that he wants space.

She runs home, packs up, books ticket to her old flatmate/best friend’s house to Los Angeles. What begins then is a lot of adventures, a sexy American photographer (Reilly), a weird neighbour, and a lot of drinking. Reilly turns out to be this classic romantic hero for our protagonist.

As Alexandra’s actual, legit fan- I wasn’t too thrilled with this one. Though at one point, all I wanted to do was read this book and do nothing else. But, while that usually starts much earlier when I’m reading her books- this time it was somewhere when I was halfway through.

But, what this book did offer was an honest reveal of how relationships really end. Hugh dumped Frankie to pursue meaningless one night stands, only to realize he just wants to be in a stable loving relationship. I don’t understand why people do this- break away from a good, healthy relationship- and completely mess up the other’s head, and only to come begging back after a cold, silent time.

Hugh didn’t feel the need to call back Frankie to even find out if she’s okay, or where she is. The minute she left the apartment, he didn’t bother. And when she did call from LA to speak to him- all he could care was about the girl in his bed! And then he shows up in Las Vegas with a ring and a whole plan of what they’re going to do- assuming she’s going to go through with it?! I would have been super angry if she went back to the asshat. But, thank god she didn’t.

Reilly’s character is first introduced when Frankie’s at the airport in London drinking her sorrows in bodyweight vodka. I wish she’d talked more about him than just in the scenes he was present in- and his physical features. I feel like Hugh’s character was explained more in detail than Reilly’s was.

All her novels have a theme of magic and mystic to them- this one, unfortunately, didn’t. Maybe that was the substance lacking from the book. She’s much more witty, engaging and humorous in her other novels- that I kept looking for it in this one. I did have a few LOL moments where I actually fell off the bed laughing- but those weren’t as many as there were in the others.

All in all, give it a read- but not the first one I’d recommend if you’d never read Alexandra Potter before. I’d recommend ‘Do you Come here Often’ That’s my favourite one.

Postcard: Yala National Park, Sri Lanka

If you were to believe only all the Instagram posts for Sri Lanka, you’d think it’s all about the beaches, the sunsets and the coconuts. But, that’s far from true.

Yala National Park in Sri Lanka is the country’s most popular national park. The park has the highest density of Leopards in the world. While it also has 43 other mammals including 12 horned reindeer, elephants, Wild Water Buffalos, Sloth bears.

Leopards are extremely rare to spot, so when I visited Yala- you can imagine my excitement to see them. We went on two Safari trips there- and were lucky enough to spot 3 different leopards- in 3 completely different moods!

I bought this postcard from the little shop in the hotel we stayed at.

14 Touristy Places to see in Delhi

Say you are going to Delhi, to do the tourist-y things. Where do you begin? As someone who is natively from Delhi, that is a very tough question. Whenever I’m visiting Delhi there are a few places that I have to go to (mostly to hog, but still):
1. Chandni Chowk to eat Bedmi Aloo
2. Khan Market to eat at Big Chill Cafe
3. Connaught Place to shop at Janpath and eat at Nirula’s and Wengers
4. Nani’s house in old Delhi and to eat bedmi aloo.
5. Taiji’s house to eat whatever is the latest street food fad.

You get my gist, right? It’s mostly about food when I’m in Delhi. But, I decided the next time I go, I’m going to do some touristy things, and visit some actual tourist spots that I only went when I was some 9-10 years old on a school trip, back when I was still living in Delhi.

So, here’s a few places that you must visit on your first trip to Delhi:

  1. Red Fort
8c601f467465b73cc45704b4fe424e6cThis is the beginning one for Delhi right? And luckily, it’s situated like right next to Chandni Chowk.
    Little about the place:
It was the main residence for the Mughal Emperors for about 200 years, after it was constructed by the emperor Shah Jahan. But, since then it’s been through a lot: Invaders and  Britishers (or, you know the same thing!). Nowadays, it’s used as the location for Republic and Independence day in Delhi. It’s an iconic spot where the Indian flag flies high.
  2. Lotus Temple
    Lotus Temple
Delhi’s architectural marvel, the Lotus temple is a beauty. The temple is open to all religions but needs you to be very, very quiet inside.
  3. Humayun’s Tomb
    Swatiness+Humayun's tomb
Inspired by Persian designs, it was a tomb to the Mughal emperor, Humayun.
  4. Akshardham Mandir
    large1.jpg
One of the most popular tourist spots in Delhi, the Akshardham Mandir is the main attraction of the Akshardham Complex. The beautiful temple is one of the most peaceful places to visit in Delhi. Keep in mind that you can’t really carry any cameras or mobile phones inside- so either leave them back in the hotel or in the car. Because the queue to storage is VERY long. There are photographers inside who will take picture inside for a reasonable fee.
  5. Tomb of Safdarjung
    Swatiness_Safdarjung
Because of the Mughal emperors, a lot of Delhi’s old architecture reflects Persian roots. This was built for Mughal Statesmen Safdarjung.
  6. Agrasen ki Baoli and Jantar Mantar
    2d5cbf03dca1b7b084b3661e67f71112
These are both really close to Connaught Place- and can be included when you’re in and around the area. Agrasen ki Baoli is said to be super old- older than the 14th century (when it was re-built!) and is a step well.
Jantar Mantar is a giant sundial, built in the 18th century.
  7. Hauz Khas Fort
    Swatiness_Hauz Khas
If you’re in Delhi, you will end up in Hauz Khas Village- you know for a few bites and drinks. The whole place is built near the Hauz Khas Fort- that traces itself back to the 13th century. If you read about it carefully, it is essentially a giant water tank from the century.
  8. Lodhi Gardens
    Swatiness_Lodhi Gardens
It’s a local hotspot for early morning walkers. There are three historical buildings that you should visit- including the Tomb of Sikander Lodi, the second of the very short-lived Lodi Dynasty.
  9. India Habitat Centre
    IHC Delhi
Soak in Delhi’s culture. There’s an amazing American Diner while you’re there- and with several art galleries, and lush gardens- it’s a must visit.
  10. Dilli Haat
    Screen Shot 2017-06-03 at 9.20.12 AM.png
This one’s a tourist’s dream. Colourful little stores everywhere, with everything “desi” you’d want to buy. I took my friend, Lucy there, and both of us went completely mental and ended up having a very relaxing time there.
  11. Qutub Minar
    Qutub Minar-02

This 5 floored piece of architecture is on several itineraries. But, because it’s in the south of Delhi, it’s sometimes bumped off last minute. I visited there so many times a kid from school.

  12. India Gate
    large (1)
This is a proud war memorial near Rajpath. It was a memorial for the Indian soldiers who died in France during the First World War. Underneath burns the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the eternal fire as a sign of respect to the immortal soldiers.
  13. Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
    download (1)
A Sikh Gurudwara, it’s also near Connaught Place. On the grounds is the Gurudwara, holy pond, a school and an art gallery.
  14. Jama Masjid
    download
One of the largest mosques in India, it was built by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan.
